Why We Started

Founders Chris and Mikey Ryu were at their Tae Kwon Do class and realised that their instructor was running their club using the notes on his phone and a notebook. After checking around and realising that most martial arts clubs deal with poorly designed websites that barely get the job done, they decided to be the change they wanted to see in the world!

A brief history of Dojo Dex

October 2024 - Work Started

Work started on the DojoDex website and V1 of the Instructor & Student Apps.

November 2024 - Plans Announced

Sponsored the BUTL Conference. The largest gathering of Tae Kwon-Do Grandmasters we've ever seen! The first public outing and the first chance to get feedback from the world's best.

3rd February 2025 - Website & CRM Launching

V1 of the website is launching with free directory, free events and a we're opening the marketplace for select suppliers.

Early February 2025 - Apps Launching

V1 of the student app with ITF Tae Kwon-Do Theory, directory and club communication.

Meet The Founders

Meet Chris Ryu

1st Dan (Black Belt) in ITF Taekwondo and 2nd Dan (Black Belt) in ITA Taekwondo

Martial Arts have been a core part of my life, with becoming a 2nd dan black belt in ITA Taekwondo when I was younger. After taking a 20-year break to tend to my business and family, I joined an ITF club and am now on track to become a 2nd Dan again. However, after realising that my saboom (Instructor) ran the club off the notes on his phone, I knew something had to change.

I live by the motto "to be the change you want to see in the world", and so together, my son and I have joined forces to create Dojo Dex and give martial arts clubs access to the high-quality services that they deserve.

Meet Mikey Ryu

4th Kup (Blue Belt) In ITF Taekwondo

I've always been the type of person to do things for other people, often spending a lot of time just trying to get good at something that I ultimately had no interest in, and it wasn't until I hit a dark spot in my life that I realised that something needed to change. I concluded that I was the one who needed to change, so I set out to find out who I was and have the courage and strength to accept whatever I may discover along the journey.

After we joined the Taekwondo class that we are at now, I came up with the idea that having a martial arts directory would be a great way not only to help others find martial arts but to help others like me. So, Chris and I teamed up to create Dojo Dex, the UK's largest martial arts directory site, and offer the services that martial arts clubs and students deserve in the UK and beyond.
